THE ROAD I HAVE TAKEN

In our struggle to face life, we are surprised to see ourselves in the middle of nowhere. When we look back and find out that no one’s around, we know from then and there that decisions now lie in our hands. When we make important decisions, so many alternatives are there to choose from. So many choices but actually it’s just a matter of choice between long or short cuts, easy or difficult journey, plain or exciting adventures and success or failures. Most often than not, we are attracted to the road where it offers comfort and pleasures, where hardships are not included. Majority of us are trilled by the richness and abundance of things around us. At the beginning of our journey, we see only the superficial aspects of these roads without even thinking what awaits us at the end of this path. Most of us will decide to take the short cut, the road with even surface, the place where flowers and trees are beautifully rooted on the rich soil, the path that seems to offer comfort and all pleasures in life. Perhaps most of us think that at the end of the road is real happiness and success. But are senses are not at all reliable. Our senses can deceive us. What our senses perceive may all be lies. And as we near the end, we feel that success is just within our reach only to find out that we’re on the wrong way and the sad part is that, there’s no turning back.

Choosing the direction of our life is a crucial one.
It entails time. It’s not a trial and error problem solving. It should never be a spur of the moment decision making. It’s actually a make or brake for most of us. Success can’t be achieved by our happy go lucky attitude. Success is more of effort than wishful thinking. It's more of hardwork than good luck. Of course we’ll never be able to tell what these roads will offer us unless we decide to take one of them. That’s why it entails critical thinking. What we may be in the future will depend on the sum total of all the choices we made in our journey.

I chose to take the longer road. The one whose physical view may not be really inviting. Now I’m on my journey. Along the way I experienced a lot of trials, hardships, difficulties, pain and challenges that tested my determination. These things make me tough; they make me hunger for success. At the end of the road I know I will emerge victorious. I know that I have made the right decision, to take these road instead of having the shorter one. After all, there are no short cuts to success; you’ll always have to take the main road. Facing all those trials, I know that I have won the battle. My weapon is my self determination, determination that was tested by many detractors. In those endeavors I saw myself afraid of the unknown,
shivering in cold and in deep pain. But courage won’t allow me to quit and hope keeps my faith alive. Yes, at the midst of the darkness I decided to stand up, pick up the torn pieces of my dreams and continue my journey in that long and less traveled road. I’m not yet through with my journey. I know there are a lot of things waiting for me, both good and bad. I know it’s too early to say but I know that at the end of this long and tiring journey I’ll be embracing success and I’ll be soaring high. This is the path that I chose, the road that will refine the weakness in me and strengthen the positive traits in me. What will yours be?
